Guardians of the Dream World — Hand-Painted Shipibo Kené Tapestry

A one-of-a-kind hand-painted Shipibo tapestry created by an artist from the Peruvian Amazon, this visionary work brings together animal, plant, celestial, and human archetypes as guardians of the dream world. Surrounded by an intricate field of Kené-inspired geometry, the figures seem to inhabit a realm where the boundaries between human, animal, plant, earth, sky, and spirit become fluid.

The harpy eagle rises with commanding presence, embodying expanded vision, boldness, leadership, discernment, and the strength to establish and protect boundaries. From above, the eagle offers the perspective needed to see beyond immediate circumstances and recognize the larger patterns unfolding in our lives.

The serpent moves through the composition as an ancient symbol of transformation, renewal, and life force. Its winding body evokes the process of shedding old forms, moving between different states of consciousness, and continually becoming something new.

At the center rests the jaguar, carrying the qualities of instinct, courage, sovereignty, and the ability to navigate darkness and the unknown. In the dream world, the jaguar becomes a powerful symbol of learning to trust what can be sensed even when it cannot yet be clearly seen.

The wolf, gazing upward beneath the moon, brings us into the territory of intuition, dreams, instinct, belonging, and communication with the unseen. The moon illuminates the inner landscape—the mysterious and cyclical world that reveals itself when ordinary consciousness becomes quiet.

Nearby, the fox represents observation, adaptability, intelligence, and discernment: knowing when to move, when to wait, and how to navigate changing circumstances with awareness.

Above them grows the great tree, which can also be contemplated as a womb of life—a place of birth, nourishment, growth, and transformation. Deeply rooted in the earth while reaching toward the heavens, the tree carries a profound teaching: to grow tall, we must first learn to become grounded. As we grow, we gain the ability to observe from above, seeing our path from a wider perspective while remaining connected to our roots.

The hummingbirds move between these worlds as symbols of vitality, resilience, beauty, and movement, while the winged human forms suggest transformation and passage beyond the familiar boundaries of identity.
